PIONEER MUSEUM
Germans looking for a better life risked everything to get to Gillespie County in the mid-1840s. When they arrived, they created a unique German colony in the heart of the Texas Hill Country.
Pioneer Museum and the Gillespie County Historical Society pay tribute to the history of those German emigrants through a series of activities hosted on the museum grounds.
PIONEER MUSEUM GROUNDS
The Pioneer Museum grounds is a combination museum and historical site on 3.5 acres featuring historic homesteads and buildings donated by founding families of Gillespie County.
Among these are a one-room schoolhouse, log cabin, Sunday house, bath house, barn and smokehouse that showcase artifacts and architecture which help to preserve and tell their story.
