Holiday Home Tour
Joseph W. Baines, a lawyer, Texas legislator, Texas Secretary of State, and grandfather of President Lyndon B. Johnson, bought the six-acre block with his wife, Ruth, for $450 in 1904 on West College Street. The home they lived in will be part of this year’s Holiday Home Tour.

Eight homes will be showcased in the 2025 Gillespie County Historical Society/Pioneer Museum 66th annual Holiday Home Tour on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

All properties are self-guided with docents available in each home to explain the residences’ unique features.

Properties on the 2025 tour include the former home of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s grandparents, a home showcasing the art of local artist Lee Ethel, and several homes that have been restored and feature the unique architecture of Fredericksburg.

A full list of homes and their descriptions can be found online at pioneermuseum.org/home-tour.

As with previous Home Tours, this year’s trek is coupled with the annual Holiday Market, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, in the Historic Sanctuary and Social Hall at 312 W. San Antonio St., Fredericksburg and will feature 20 high-end, artisanal Hill Country vendors.
